STUDENT APPLICATION FORMS

Scholarship application management, from invitation to submission.

Collect online scholarship applications, supporting documents, and recommendations in one student record. Use separate forms for different applicant groups, or connect a shared form to several scholarships.
Request information

FORM DESIGN

Choose the right format.

Use online questions, an official PDF, or both. Structure the form around the information your committee actually evaluates.
  • Essays, short answers, multiple choice, checkboxes, and addresses
  • Structured reference contacts and custom student details
  • Optional sections for additional scholarship opportunities
  • PDF fields configured for online completion, with downloadable files when needed

STUDENT EXPERIENCE

Make the requirements clear.

Each form has a signup link, invitation code, and QR code. Students can return to unfinished work before submitting.
  • Autosaved online answers before final submission
  • Separate uploads for each requested document
  • Downloadable files students can complete and return
  • Recommendation tasks with upload or secure-questionnaire options

APPLICATION CONTROL

Keep the final submission deliberate.

Students see a warning before submission locks their answers. Administrators can reopen an application when a correction is necessary.
  • Incomplete and submitted status filters
  • Application renewal dates and manual expiration
  • Organization branding and contact details
  • Form duplication, archiving, and deletion controls

ONE APPLICATION, SEVERAL OPPORTUNITIES

Keep shared requirements in the core form.

For example, a foundation can collect student details and a general essay once. A healthcare scholarship can add an optional career essay, while another fund uses the same core answers. Staff connect the form to the relevant opportunities and review each scholarship separately.
  • Use shared questions for requirements that apply to every applicant
  • Add an opt-in checkbox or supplemental questions for a specific scholarship
  • Show each requested document’s status and missing-document count
  • Use the applicant list to filter by form and identify unfinished applications

A FEW MORE DETAILS

Before you get started

Is a reference contact the same as a recommendation?

No. Reference fields collect contact details. To request a recommendation, configure a separate task as an uploaded letter or a secure questionnaire sent to the recommender.

Does every PDF work as an online form?

No. Upload the PDF, configure and align its fields, and test browser completion before sharing it. Students can also download, complete, and upload a file when browser completion is unsuitable. An embedded PDF submit button does not submit the Meritaria application.

Can recommendations and files arrive later?

Recommendation tasks can be completed later. Required supporting documents and downloadable forms may arrive after submission only when the administrator enables that option. Required file-upload questions must be completed before submission.

Can one application be considered for several scholarships?

Yes. Administrators connect forms to scholarships and can assign eligible applicants to other opportunities. Optional scholarship sections can collect any additional answers.

How do we move an existing PDF scholarship application online?

Start by deciding which fields belong in the online form and which documents students still need to complete separately. Create the questions and upload tasks, configure any PDF fields intended for browser completion, then preview the full experience before distributing the form’s invitation link. Simply uploading a PDF does not configure its fields or import completed answers. Configure the field mapping where profile information should be copied, and have students save the completed PDF into their application.
